Colombia, main character in Royal Botanic Gardens in London

The prestigious Royal Botanic Gardens Kew are going to dedicate their orchid festival to Colombia, the country has the higher number of this plant’s species all over the world. For this reason, from February 9th to March 10th the visitors could enjoy more than 6.200 orchids, including the “Mayor Flower”, the national Colombian Flower. It will be exposed alive portraits build it with flowers from regions and places such as Caño Cristales, enchanted forest with jaguars, butterflies and the Dorado’s legend.

The exposition will have the participation of the Colombian artist Vanessa Moncayo González, who will transform the garden cinema into murals with Bogotá’s street art. It will also include a familiar program with costumes making workshops, typical drums and dancing workshops with the rhythm of Barranquilla’s Carnival. It will count with coffee tastings and Scientifics and horticulture talks, among other activities.

The initiative was made in the visit of Richard Derevell, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew’s director, to Colombia in January with the support of British Embassy in Colombia and the Colombian Embassy in United Kingdom.
